Pandora

De kist van Pandora. Wat de reden ook is*, het deksel van de kist is open gegaan. Veel ellende stroomde de wereld in. Hopeloos zakte Pandora op de grond in huilen. “ Was dit deksel maar nooit open gegaan, ik had beter op de kist moeten letten”, “Alles is er nu uit”, verzuchte Pandora. “Nee, nog niet alles”, zei een klein stemmetje. Pandora keek op waar de stem vandaan kwam en zag een vlinder als laatste uit de kist vliegen. “En wie ben jij dan?”, vroeg Pandora aan dit wonderlijk beestje. “Mijn naam is hoop”, antwoorde de vlinder monter en vloog weg de wereld in.

*De ene vertelling gaat dat vele mannen smeekte om de aandacht van de mooie en begaafde Pandora. Ze rende weg van deze mannen, struikelde in haar vlucht waardoor de kist viel en het deksel open schoof.

De andere vertelling gaat dat Pandora de kist uit nieuwsgierigheid had geopend. Pandora had vele gaven gekregen van de Goden, maar ze hadden haar ook de eigenschap van nieuwsgierigheid gegeven (http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/grecoromanmyth1/a/050410Pandora_and_her_box_or_pithos.htm).

The box of Pandora. Wathever the reasom may be*. The lit of the box has opened. A lot of misery flew in to the world. Desperate Pandora sunk on to the ground and cried: “I should have be more careful with the box, everything is now fallen out”. “No, not everything”, said a little voice. Pandora looked up to see where this voice was coming from. She saw the last creature flying out of the box. It was a butterfly. “And who are you?”, asked Pandora. “My name is hope”, answered this wondrous creature and the butterfly flew away into the world.

*One version of the story is that Pandora was followed by mane man who begged for the attention of the beautiful and gifted Pandora. She ran away from these men and stumbled. The box fell out of her hands and the lit of the box went open.

The other version of the story is that Pandora opened the box out of curiosity. Pandora was given many talents by the Gods, but also the gift of curiosity (http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/grecoromanmyth1/a/050410Pandora_and_her_box_or_pithos.htm).
